MILESTONE:Penn State Wrestling Alum David Taylor Wins World Championship Gold Medal

Belgrade, Serbia – Penn State wrestling alum David Taylor made history on Saturday, winning a gold medal at the World Wrestling Championships in Belgrade, Serbia.

Taylor, a four-time NCAA champion and 2014 Hodge Trophy winner, dominated the competition at 86 kg, winning all five of his matches by technical fall.

“It’s an incredible feeling to represent the United States and bring home a gold medal,” said Taylor. “I’m so grateful for the support of my coaches, teammates, and family.”

Taylor’s victory marked the first World Championship title for a Penn State wrestler since Cael Sanderson won four World titles from 2001-2004.

The achievement is a testament to Taylor’s hard work and dedication to the sport, as well as the excellence of the Penn State wrestling program.
