Injury Update: Penn State Wrestling’s Cael Sanderson Provides Positive News on Josh Barr

Penn State Wrestling head coach Cael Sanderson has given an optimistic injury update on Josh Barr, the Nittany Lions’ 197-pound wrestler, ahead of the 2025 NCAA Wrestling Championships. Barr, a redshirt freshman, injured his left leg during the Big Ten Championships earlier this month, leading to concerns about his availability for nationals.
After Barr was forced to medically forfeit his match in the consolation semifinals against Minnesota’s Isaiah Salazar, Penn State fans feared he might miss the NCAA tournament. However, Coach Sanderson reassured the media that Barr is on track to compete in the upcoming championships.
“We had to kind of carry him off the mat at Big Tens, but he’ll be ready to go. He’s been recovering well and will be scrapping on Thursday next week,” Sanderson stated confidently.
