Levi Haines Competing at 174 Pounds: Penn State Star Makes Weight Class Change

University Park, PA – Penn State wrestling star Levi Haines has made a weight class change, moving up to 174 pounds for the remainder of the season. Haines, a sophomore from York, Pennsylvania, had previously been competing at 157 pounds, where he won a national championship last season.

According to Penn State head coach Cael Sanderson, the decision to move Haines up to 174 pounds was made to optimize the team’s lineup and give Haines the best opportunity to succeed.

“We think Levi has the potential to be a dominant force at 174 pounds,” Sanderson said. “He’s got the size, strength, and athleticism to compete with anyone in the country at that weight.”
