So, why doesn’t Penn State schedule top teams at the end of the season? According to head coach Cael Sanderson, the reason is simple: it’s all about peaking at the right time.
“We want to make sure we’re wrestling our best at the end of the year, not in January or February,” Sanderson explained. “We’ve found that by scheduling tougher matches earlier in the season, we can get a sense of where we are and make adjustments as needed.
