Report:Nittany Lions’ Wrestling Team Suffers Stunning Upset in Conference Tournament

University Park, PA – The Penn State wrestling team, ranked No. 1 in the country, suffered a stunning upset in the conference tournament, losing to No. 5-ranked Ohio State.

The Nittany Lions, who had been undefeated in conference dual meets this season, were expected to dominate the tournament. However, the Buckeyes had other plans.

Ohio State won seven of the 10 matches, including a major upset by their 157-pound wrestler, who defeated Penn State’s top-ranked wrestler.

The loss marks the first time Penn State has lost a conference tournament since 2014.

“We’re disappointed, but we’ll bounce back,” said Penn State coach Cael Sanderson. “We’ll learn from our mistakes and come back stronger.”
