_NITTANY LIONS’ DEPTH AND STRENGTH ON DISPLAY IN 35-6 ROUT OF NORTHWESTERN_

University Park, PA – The Penn State Nittany Lions wrestling team dominated the Northwestern Wildcats 35-6 in a Big Ten dual meet.

 

Penn State won nine of the 10 bouts, with six wrestlers recording bonus-point wins. No. 1 Beau Bartlett (141 pounds), No. 1 Carter Starocci (174 pounds), and No. 1 Aaron Brooks (184 pounds) all recorded technical falls, while No. 1 Levi Haines (157 pounds) and No. 2 Shayne Van Ness (149 pounds) earned major decisions.

 

“We had a great team effort tonight,” said Penn State head coach Citing Cael Sanderson. “Our guys are competing at a high level, and it’s exciting to see.”

 

The win improves Penn State’s dual meet record to 13-0, while Northwestern falls to 6-5.

– 174 pounds: No. 1 Carter Starocci (Penn State) tech. fall over No. 15 Jack Jessen (Northwestern), 22-7
