PENN STATE WRESTLING EXTENDS DUAL MEET WIN STREAK TO 70 MATCHES WITH DOMINANT WIN OVER OHIO STATE
University Park, PA – The Penn State Nittany Lions wrestling team continued its dominance on the mat, extending its dual meet win streak to 70 matches with a 32-7 victory over the Ohio State Buckeyes on Friday night.
The Nittany Lions won eight of the 10 bouts, including four major decisions and a fall. The victory marked Penn State’s 15th consecutive win over Ohio State and improved its overall record to 16-0.
“We’re wrestling well, but we can still improve,” said Penn State head coach Cael Sanderson. “Our guys are competing at a high level, and we’re excited to see where this season takes us.”
The Nittany Lions were led by standout performances from their ranked wrestlers, including Aaron Nagao (125 pounds), Beau Bartlett (141 pounds), and Carter Starocci (174 pounds). Starocci, a four-time NCAA champion, recorded a major decision over Ohio State’s Ethan Smith.
Penn State’s win streak is the longest active streak in the country and the second-longest in program history. The Nittany Lions will look to continue their winning streak next weekend when they travel to Ann Arbor to face the Michigan Wolverines.
