PENN STATE’S CARTER STAROCCI WINS 4TH NCAA TITLE, SOLIDIFIES LEGACY AS ONE OF GREATEST

Penn State wrestler Carter Starocci made history on Saturday night, winning his fourth NCAA title at 174 pounds. Starocci, a senior from Erie, Pennsylvania, defeated Iowa’s Michael Kemerer 8-2 in the championship match.

With his fourth title, Starocci solidified his legacy as one of the greatest wrestlers in Penn State history. He joins an elite group of four-time NCAA champions, including Penn State legend Ed Ruth.

“Carter is an incredible wrestler and an even better person,” said Penn State head coach Cael Sanderson. “He’s worked tirelessly to achieve his goals, and it’s amazing to see him reach this milestone.”

Starocci’s victory capped off an impressive tournament for the Nittany Lions, who finished second in the team standings. Penn State had five wrestlers finish in the top five of their respective weight classes, including Starocci, Aaron Brooks, Greg Kerkvliet, Levi Haines, and Shayne Van Ness.
