University Park, PA – The Penn State Nittany Lions wrestling team continued its dominance on the mat, shutting out the Maryland Terrapins 44-0 in a Big Ten Conference dual meet on Sunday.
The Nittany Lions won all 10 bouts, including five major decisions and two falls. The victory marked Penn State’s 13th consecutive dual meet win and improved its overall record to 15-0.
“We’re wrestling well, but we can still improve,” said Penn State head coach Cael Sanderson. “Our guys are competing at a high level, and we’re excited to see where this season takes us.”
The Nittany Lions were led by standout performances from their ranked wrestlers, including Aaron Nagao (125 pounds), Beau Bartlett (141 pounds), and Carter Starocci (174 pounds). Starocci, a three-time NCAA champion, recorded a major decision over Maryland’s Kevin Makosy.
Penn State’s win over Maryland marked its 25th consecutive victory over the Terrapins. The Nittany Lions will look to continue their winning streak next weekend when they travel to Minneapolis to face the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
