The wave of departures from Penn State basketball continues.
Sophomore forward Kachi Nzeh has entered the transfer portal, according to a report from On3. Nzeh, who previously transferred from Xavier, spent just one season with the Nittany Lions. A native of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, he served as the primary backup to standout 7-footer Yanic Konan Niederhauser. Nzeh appeared in 29 games, starting twice, and averaged 2.6 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. The 6-foot-9 center was a three-star recruit in the 2023 class.
With Nzeh’s departure, Penn State has now lost nine scholarship players from last season’s 16-15 team — including five graduating seniors and four players entering the transfer portal.
The 2024 recruiting class has also taken a hit, with three of its four highly regarded members — Jahvin Carter, Miles Goodman, and Hudson Ward — opting to leave. Carter has committed to Middle Tennessee State, and Goodman is heading to Big Ten rival Oregon.
Nzeh’s exit leaves Penn State even more depleted in the frontcourt. Niederhauser has declared for the NBA Draft while maintaining his college eligibility. Should he leave, freshman Justin Houser would be the lone center remaining.
