Bravo-Young, a junior from Tucson, Arizona, defeated Cornell’s Vito Arujau 5-3 in the championship match, securing his first NCAA title.
The Penn State wrestler’s path to the championship was marked by several dominant performances, including a semifinal win over Oklahoma State’s Daton Fix.
Bravo-Young’s victory marked the sixth NCAA title won by a Penn State wrestler under Coach Cael Sanderson.
“Roman has worked incredibly hard to achieve this goal,” said Sanderson. “We’re proud of him and his accomplishment.”
Bravo-Young’s championship win capped off an impressive season for the Nittany Lions, who finished second in the team standings at the NCAA Championships.
