Penn State Wrestling Legend Cael Sanderson Announces Surprise Retirement…

University Park, PA – In a shocking move, Penn State wrestling head coach Cael Sanderson has announced his retirement from coaching, effective immediately.

 

Sanderson, widely regarded as one of the greatest collegiate wrestlers and coaches of all time, has led the Nittany Lions to unprecedented success during his tenure. Under his guidance, Penn State has won eight NCAA team titles, including four consecutive championships from 2011 to 2014.

 

The 43-year-old Sanderson, a four-time NCAA champion and Olympic gold medalist, cited a desire to spend more time with his family and pursue other interests outside of coaching.
