Jayden James, a top-ranked recruit from New Jersey, has made a significant switch in his college commitment. Initially, James had committed to Virginia Tech, but he’s now flipped to Penn State, a powerhouse in college wrestling ¹ ².

James, ranked as the No. 4 overall recruit in the country, is expected to make an immediate impact at Penn State. He’s coming off an impressive high school season, where he went undefeated with a 38-0 record and won a New Jersey state title ¹ ³.

The Delbarton (NJ) wrestler is projected to compete at either 165 or 174 pounds for the Nittany Lions. His decision to join Penn State was influenced by his desire to reach his full potential and be part of a winning culture ². James has also developed a strong bond with PJ Duke, another top recruit who trains with him at the KD Training Center ².

This commitment is a significant boost to Penn State’s 2026 recruiting class, which now includes James and Sam Herring ³. With James on board, the Nittany Lions are poised to continue their dominance in college wrestling.
