Penn State Wrestling Dominates at NCAA Championships, Wins 12th National Title
The Penn State Nittany Lions wrestling team made history at the NCAA Championships, winning their 12th national title in 14 years. The team’s dominant performance was led by individual champions Carter Starocci (184 pounds) and Aaron Brooks (174 pounds).
Penn State finished with 128.5 points, ahead of second-place Iowa’s 77.5 points. The Nittany Lions also had six wrestlers earn All-American honors, including Starocci, Brooks, Roman Bravo-Young (133 pounds), Shayne Van Ness (149 pounds), and Max Dean (197 pounds).
“This team has been incredible all season,” said Penn State head coach Cael Sanderson. “I’m so proud of every single one of them. We had a great tournament, and it’s an amazing feeling to bring home another national title.”
The championship is Penn State’s eighth under Sanderson’s leadership, and it marks the program’s 12th national title overall.
