Penn State’s Nick Lee Wins Second NCAA Individual Title, Leads Nittany Lions to Team Victory
Detroit, MI – Penn State’s Nick Lee has won his second NCAA individual title, claiming the 141-pound championship at the 2023 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships.
Lee, a senior from Evansville, IN, dominated the competition, winning all five of his matches by bonus points. He defeated Iowa’s Jaydin Eierman 10-2 in the championship match.
Lee’s victory was one of five individual titles won by Penn State wrestlers, as the Nittany Lions claimed their ninth NCAA team title since 2011.
“It’s an incredible feeling,” Lee said. “All the hard work and dedication paid off. I’m so proud of my teammates and coaches. We did it together.”
Penn State’s other individual champions included:
– Roman Bravo-Young (133 pounds)
– Carter Starocci (174 pounds)
– Aaron Brooks (184 pounds)
– Greg Kerkvliet (285 pounds)
The Nittany Lions finished with 137.5 team points, ahead of second-place Iowa’s 82 points.
“We’re thrilled with the way our guys performed,” said Penn State coach Cael Sanderson. “It was a total team effort. We’re proud of every single one of them.”
