2 Nittany Lions depart Happy Valley on 1st day of spring transfer portal

Two Penn State defenders, cornerback Jon Mitchell and linebacker Ta’Mere Robinson, have entered the transfer portal on the first day of the spring window. Here’s what we know about their potential next steps:

 

Departing Players

– *Jon Mitchell*: The cornerback preserved his redshirt by appearing in only three games during the regular season but carved out a niche on special teams. Mitchell recovered an onside kick during Penn State’s blowout win over SMU in the College Football Playoff. He has four years of eligibility remaining and is expected to draw interest from several programs due to his talent and experience.

– *Ta’Mere Robinson*: The linebacker appeared in 14 games, making 11 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and 0.5 sacks. He primarily played special teams for the Nittany Lions as a redshirt freshman.
